Was Wonder Woman The First Person To Wear A Tiara?

Posted by Tips Guides in Beauty

There are some items of clothing or accessories that are synonymous with a certain character or style. The leather jacket will forever be associated with rebellion and adventure through its military connections and its use by leading men in Hollywood movies. And large dark sunglasses, the type worn by Jackie Onassis or Sophia Loren, will always give the wearer added sophistication and confidence.

There is one item that has all this; glamour, sophistication, rebelliousness and confidence. The tiara.

The tiara is perhaps the one item of jewellery, the one accessory that can truly transform a person’s appearance and bestow on them an added sense of importance and status. It has been worn by so many people and has such a colorful history that there is not much that the tiara cannot convey, be it wealth, power or humility. It is a truly adaptable item.

A tiara is in fact a form of crown but legend suggests that this particular form of crown was invented by the Greek gods. They called it a Diadem which means ‘to bind around’ and were made from flowers and plants. The tiara became the head dress of choice for kings and Emperors in ancient kingdoms such as Mesopotamia. It became know as a tiara in Persia where it was also decorated with jewels and precious stones, something the Romans also did.

As well as rulers of countries and kingdoms the tiara was favored by the Roman Catholic Church. Known for its elaborate ceremony and wealth it’s perhaps not surprising that the church adopted the tiara as its own. The Papal tiara was an elaborate design that incorporated symbolism representing Christ, power and authority.

The tiara is still favored by the world’s most powerful leaders and was in the news recently when Queen Elisabeth II sat for a portrait by the renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz. It was reported that Things didn’t run smoothly and that Leibevitz asked the Queen to take off the tiara that she was wearing as it was ‘too showy’.

It is also believed that Queen Elisabeth has the largest and most valuable tiara collection in the world. The collection is made up of heirlooms and items she has inherited as well as gifts from other countries and state leaders. But it’s not just royalty who favor wearing a tiara as a symbol of there wealth, power or status.

When pop star Madonna married film director Guy Ritchie in 2000 she wore a 78 carat diamond tiara. The tiara had 765 diamonds and was unusual in that, through the removal of some pieces, it could be turned into a necklace. The tiara was a beautiful example of Edwardian jewellery and could be traced back to 1910.

Perhaps the most famous non royal ever to wear a tiara is Audrey Hepburn. She appeared on screen wearing a tiara, most notably in Roman Holiday, and exposed the item of jewellery to a whole new generation. It could also be argued that the image of her wearing a tiara led to the production of cheaper, more affordable tiaras from high street stores. In the same way that Marlon Brando popularized the leather jacket and James Dean popularized the white t-shirt and blue jeans, Audrey Hepburn popularized the tiara.

And the powerful symbolism of the tiara wasn’t lost on comic book writer William Moulton Marston when he created Wonder Woman in 1941. Wonder Woman was an Amazon, from the idea based in Greek mythology. Part of her outfit was a magic tiara that was crafted from Greek god Apollo’s discuss. The Greek association was also very apt as that was where the tiara is believed to have originated.

Choosing The Best Teeth Whitening Toothpaste

Posted by Tips Guides in Beauty

If you’re looking to whiten your teeth and brighten your smile, consider the benefits of using teeth whitening toothpaste. For many people, the affordability and convenience of teeth whitening toothpaste is the best way to achieve significant results.

Teeth are likely to get stained through years of exposure to teas, coffee and cigarettes. The teeth will appear yellowish or discolored, making a person self-conscious of their smile. While any toothpaste will clean the enamel, to whiten the teeth, look for toothpaste that has been created for this very purpose.

The best teeth whitening toothpaste will slowly lighten the stains on the enamel. The ingredients in the toothpaste are designed to clean the enamel, with a gentle scouring action. This will decrease the appearance of the stains on the teeth.

As with every teeth whitening agent on the market or even those available only through a dentist, there are pros and cons. The very best teeth whitening toothpaste has limitations. Since they are sold over-the-counter, the law regulates the amount of the active ingredient in the toothpaste and therefore you will be getting a reduced amount of the chemical than your dentist can provide.

However, this can actually have a positive benefit since the stains will be removed gradually, therefore reducing any potential damage to the teeth’s enamel. If the active cleaning agent were stronger, the enamel may become pitted, which would make the teeth sensitive to hot and cold sensations.

Also, on the plus side, the best teeth whitening toothpaste is economical. Many treatments offered by dentists are very costly and some insurance companies do not pay the full amount for cosmetic procedures.

Whitening your teeth with special toothpaste is also very convenient. You are in full control of the time and place. There are no appointments to make and keep.

The key to success with teeth whitening toothpaste is to use it regularly. The greatest benefit comes over a period of time. There won’t be an immediate result, as may be seen with a professional treatment. But the results will come. Be patient.

Before purchasing the toothpaste, compare the labels on the various brands. Determine the name of the active ingredient and the percentage used in the toothpaste.

Keep in mind that even the best teeth whitening toothpaste needs time to be effective. Stains from nicotine are very difficult to remove and this type of discoloration may not be brushed away quickly.

The effectiveness of the toothpaste will of course be also determined by the amount of discoloration on the teeth. All teeth whitening toothpaste will remove some of the yellowish stains, but if there are years of damage, there may be a limit to their overall effectiveness.

Using a teeth whitening toothpaste is actually an excellent way to start brightening your smile. The availability and affordability of these products make them perfect for everyone and their budgets. Additionally, they do offer a level of cleaning that makes teeth whiter. While they do work more gradually than some other treatments, they are still effective and will produce results.

Choosing The Best Teeth Whitening Products

Posted by Tips Guides in Beauty

The best teeth whitening products may be as close as your local supermarket or pharmacy. Since society places a large emphasis on appearance, many people are seeking affordable and convenient ways to whiten their teeth and improve their smiles. With the growing number of choices on the market, a brief overview of the some of the best teeth whitening products will help you choose the one that’s right for you.

Teeth whitening toothpaste is popular option for many people. The cost is reasonable and using this type of toothpaste doesn’t require a large commitment of time. On the down side, the results of teeth whitening toothpaste often take weeks to see and appreciate.

Because of the laws regarding the amount of chemical agents allowed to be in the toothpaste, consumers will be getting a milder teeth whitening product. Essentially, this type of toothpaste cleans the enamel on the teeth, which in turn reduces the amount of discoloration. Yes, this is effective, but the results aren’t as dramatic or quick as other options deliver.

Teeth whitening strips offer more in the results category, although they cost a bit more too. Basically, these strips contain a chemical agent for whitening the teeth. The strips are placed on the teeth for about thirty minutes, although the time may vary depending on the product you purchase.

Some teeth whitening strips contain more of the bleaching agent, which means they need to spend less time on the teeth. You may also need to apply them twice a day for maximum results.

The strips are very easy to use and come with everything you need. You can put the strips on during your leisure moments and that makes them convenient as well.

The only down side is that the strips only whiten the front of the teeth. The gaps between the teeth do not receive the bleaching agent. As the fronts of the teeth whiten, the gaps may become more noticeable.

Some people feel that the best teeth whitening product is a gel. This method requires you to apply the gel to the teeth for only minutes each day. The gaps between the teeth also receive the benefit of the whitening agent with this procedure.

The dentists still have the best teeth whitening products, although they will be much more expensive and require some time in the dentist chair. A laser treatment can instantly remove discoloration from teeth and provides a long lasting result.

Also available are the molded mouthpiece trays in which the dentist places the bleaching agent. This method allows stains to be considerably lightened in a shorter time than at-home treatments.

If your budget doesn’t allow a professional treatment or even an over-the-counter one, there are some home remedies that might be effective. Applying a mixture of lemon juice and salt to the teeth will diminish the appearance of stains.

Using toothpaste made with bicarbonate of soda brightens teeth as it cleans the enamel more thoroughly. These home remedies are used to varying degrees of satisfaction by people around the world.

The best teeth whitening products can be found at your dentist office, the local pharmacy or the supermarket. Decide which one works best for your teeth and your budget.

Diamond Grades - Which Color Is Most Desirable

Posted by Tips Guides in Beauty

Some loose diamonds stand out in their brilliance and vibrant sparkle even on the sorting belts at the mine sites. These tend to be well represented in the highest grades. The highest diamond color grades belong to Colorless, at Grades D, E, and F. These loose diamonds appear colorless. The colors D, E, and F are usualy grouped together as exceptionally fine, rare with color and can be termed colorless, exceptional white, or rare white. Diamond dealers use this vocabulary to describe these top rated diamonds.

Next grade down are the Near Colorless, with grades G, H, I, J. You should realize that if mounted in a setting these diamonds may appear lacking color to your perhaps tender gemologist in process eye. The Grade G and H may also be referred to fine white or rare white. These grades are also considered very fine. The I and J grade colors are somewhat more tinted but are still considered increasingly as being described as colorless. Next Grades K, L, and M display more of the Faint Yellowish Tint.

Settings and how the mounted is placed are very important with these less than perfect gems. This can make many a diamond through to M as near colorless and flawless. These are smaller diamonds that look colorless when mounted; you can see traces of color in diamonds of 1/2 carat or more. Next down the Grades are Very Light Yellowish Tint, which embraces grades N, O, P, Q, and R. At the bottom of the grades are Tinted Light Yellow is, which has the lowest grades S, T, U, V, W, X, Y, and Z.

The lower stones show increasing yellow, and appear off white. Those diamonds ending between N through to Z may often have very fine qualities. Qualities, that when mounted allow them to take on a majesty not considered likely, or possible. The Grades D to J allow more resale potential than Grades K through Z, and again the resale potential in how desirable the object of desire appears. In few other human ways do we display our emotional connection to another with this vow of perfection from eternity.

We can feel an impossible pride that this same magnificent diamond can cut through any problem. You point to the steel beam that needs sawing in half on a construction site. When you need a steel beam sawed in half, who you going to call? Diamond drillers, that who. Yes, they actually have to call in the diamond drill. Something regal, majestic, above getting hands dirty eternal diamond, and yet the hardest worker on the job. There seems something so can-do-American Yankee about a simple, very profound diamond.

Welcome to the magical world of diamonds, now from America, Australia and Canada. Hand shakes and diamonds across the border.Depending on your budget and whether you can manage to purchase a diamond just within it’s Grade and price range, rather than than a very similiar model grade just a shade less so therefore in a lower priced category. These are tricks of the trade you may know; they are common sense and ood busdiness dealing in all. The world of diamonds is an exotic world with promise of regret or fortune.

You can easily avoid the regret with careful searching. Read on.Plus need we add, lots of advance planning, many discussions with those you respect and sense you can trust. It is the way, we all know, to a mutually profitable and compatible relationship between diamond dealers, sharing their best loupes worth in harmony and glee. Happy louping.

Best Teeth Whitening Techniques

Posted by Tips Guides in Beauty

Teeth get stained. That’s a fact of life that we all must come to terms with at some point in time. Teeth are constantly being exposed to various foods, beverages or even cigarettes. All of these things have the potential to discolor the enamel on teeth and diminish the brightness of your smile.

But there’s hope. There are several ways to undo the damage. Here are some of the best teeth whitening techniques that will make a positive difference.

The first innovation designed to whiten teeth appeared several years ago. These are teeth whitening trays and were available only through a dentist.

The idea was simple; a mold was made of the mouth, or else a ready-made tray was used. The dentist put a bleaching compound or a whitening gel on the tray and it was placed in the mouth. It was worn for at least an hour a day. This allowed the saliva to react with the chemicals to release hydrogen peroxide, a tooth whitener.

While this was indeed the best teeth whitening technique available at the time, there were pros and cons. On the plus side, there was significant whitening of the teeth. The downside was wearing the apparatus, which can be awkward in the mouth. Additionally, the chemicals may make teeth sensitive to hot and cold.

An improvement was made with the laser teeth whitening method. This professional treatment involves putting the bleaching agent on the teeth and using a laser to speed up the chemical process. While it does drastically reduce the time required, this is definitely the most expensive way to whiten teeth.

A variation of this method is known as the blue light teeth whitening treatment. A blue light activates the reaction between the whitening agent and the teeth. The effects are immediate and last for several years, but it is a costly procedure and one that must be done in a dentist’s office.

There are several less expensive but effective ways to whiten teeth. Among the best of these teeth whitening methods are whitening strips.

They should be worn about an hour a day and they do whiten teeth to a considerable degree. The problem that people notice is that the gaps between the teeth do not receive the whitening agent and this becomes more obvious as the front of the teeth become whiter.

Whitening tips are also convenient and cost-effective. With this product, you apply the whitening gel to the teeth. It’s gentle, but may not have the dramatic effect that other products have.

Many people feel that the best teeth whitening products are gels. Take note of the percent of the active ingredient when purchasing a gel. A larger amount of carbamide peroxide means that you will notice results more quickly.

Gels can be applied to the teeth using a molded tray, but it’s important to shield your gums from the chemicals. Since the pores of the teeth open during a whitening procedure, it’s recommended that you apply a re-mineralizing solution after the treatment.

Practical Natural Skin Care Tips

Posted by Tips Guides in Beauty

All natural skin care includes taking care of your body on the inside as well as on the outside. Your skin is the largest organ of your body. To have truly radiant skin, you need to be healthy - from the inside out and the outside in.

The best natural skin care routine starts with eating nourishing foods. Eat fresh, whole and organic if possible. Stay away from junk foods, processed foods and anything with a long list of ingredients on the back of the package. Learn to read labels so you know what’s safe and what’s not.

Make sure you’re drinking plenty of good water. Your body needs adequate water to help flush toxins out of your system and keep your cells hydrated. Beverages like sodas, energy drinks and fruit drinks have too much sugar or artificial sweeteners along with chemical additives that can have adverse effects on your health. Even fruit juice has too much sugar, unless diluted at least 1:1 or better yet 1:4 with pure water. Occasional herbal teas are fine, but should not make up the majority of your liquids.

Remember to exercise and avoid excess sun exposure as well. Outdoor physical activity is important. Just use good sun sense. Start out slow. Avoid the times when the sun is at its hottest. And cover up when you’ve had your daily quota of sun.

When choosing your organic and natural skin care products, it’s imperative to keep in mind that the industry is unregulated and the term “natural” is not legally defined. For this reason it’s important to make your decision to buy based upon the safety of the ingredients listed on the back of the package rather than on the pretty pictures on the front of the product label.

A good natural skin care program starts with choosing a quality all natural skin care product line, preferably certified organic by the USDA National Organic Program.

Select natural skin care products that are designed for your specific skin type. You’ll probably find that you fall into one of the following four categories:

- Normal/combination skin
- Oily/problem skin
- Dry/mature skin
- Sensitive skin

Make sure that your all natural and organic skin care products include a cleanser, an exfoliant, a mineral mask, a conditioner or toner and a moisturizer. Using all these products will give you the best results and the healthiest complexion.

The basic steps to follow in your natural skin care regimen include:

Cleanse twice a day, in the morning and in the evening. Prepare your face for cleansing by gently pressing a warm washcloth to your face. Then massage the cleansing lotion into your face and neck. Rinse thoroughly.

Exfoliate once a week using a gentle exfoliant if you have dry or sensitive skin. If you have normal or oily skin, you should exfoliate several times a week. This removes the build-up of dead cells and promotes a healthy and glowing appearance. If you have blemishes, don’t use an exfoliant. Heal the acne first, then you can exfoliate.

Deep cleanse with a mineral mask once a week if your skin type is dry or mature; twice a week if you have normal/combination or oily skin. If you have acne, this is the step that will help you heal your skin. For a blemished complexion, use a mineral mask daily for a week. Use it every other day for another week. Then use it twice a week until your skin clears up.

Be sure to use a conditioner or toner after every time you cleanse. Conditioning or toning nourishes the skin and provides a base for the moisturizer.

Finish with a moisturizer. Even those with oily skin need to moisturize. Just make sure it’s formulated for oily skin. Moisturizing provides your skin with a layer of protection against free radical damage and moisture loss. Losing moisture is one of the primary reasons for developing wrinkles.

These are the basic steps to a glowing and healthy complexion. If you have special needs, you may want to add an additional all natural skin care product or two to your daily ritual.

The most important thing to remember is to use a top quality certified organic natural skin care regimen on your face every day, twice a day, and you will reap the rewards - a vibrant, glowing, healthy-looking complexion.
