Picking The Perfect Color For Your Dress

Posted by Tips Guides in Clothing

As color has a tremendous emotional impact and effect on moods and appearance its importance in fashion designing is without question; and because of its importance it is well to learn how it should be used with different women’s coloring.

COLOR CHARTS

Following are some suggestions for the use of colors of fabrics with various colorings of skin tone and hair. Do not feel bound by these, just remember the color of the wearer’s dress should not overshadow her natural hair and skin coloring.

Pale Blondes With Pale Skin: Light green, blue green, light and dark blue, blue violet, lavender, pink, dark brown, light orange, neutral red or red orange, blue gray, light gray, cream or flesh white, shiny black. Avoid intense colors or dead black.

Vivid Golden Blonde - Rosy or Cream Complexion: Colors slightly grayed or softened, blue, blue violet, violet blue, soft green, blue green, black, off-white, gray, pink, beige-tan, soft red, red orange, yellow. Avoid colors that are neutral or very intense.

Neutral Semi-Blonde - Dark Ash Blonde - Fair Skin: Soft colors but not too low in value, medium greens and blues, soft blue, blue green, blue violet, soft reds and red orange, soft pink, dark brown, creamy white, shiny black. Avoid very pale pastel tints and warm intense colors.

Medium Brown - Medium Fair Complexion: Black when trimmed with white, brown, dark gray, warm white, blue green, low intensity blue or green, dark red, soft orange or yellow, ecru, natural beige. Avoid purple, somber colors, or very intense colors.

Brunette - Dark Brown or Black Hair - Pale, Fair, or Ivory Skin: Various shades and hues of red or orange, medium - dark - or warm green, light or dark tan, cream white, medium blue green, neutral dark blue, warm gray, dark red purple. Avoid light blue, bright green, pale violet, blue purple, bright pink.

Dark Brunette - Dark Brown or Black hair - Skin Golden Brown, Olive, or Copper Colored:

Low value (dark) clear red - blue - or green, dark neutral orange, maroon, dark tan or gray, cream white, black velvet. Avoid the same colors mentioned for previous type.

Pale Red Hair - Pale Transparent Skin: Blue, blue gray, gray, blue green, brown, light or dark tan, light or dark gray, green, purple, ivory white, black. Avoid bright very intense red, orange brighter than hair, red violet, rose pink.

Bright Red Hair - Vivid Complexion: Soft medium green or blue green, dark blue, blue gray, ivory white, light tan, dark gray. Avoid bright red or orange, purple or rose pink, yellow green.

Mixed Gray Hair - Pale Skin: All soft colors, dark blue, black only when accented with color near face. Avoid: bright yellow, natural beige, light greens or blues, and all intense high value colors.

Gray Hair - Pale Skin: All soft shades of most warm or cool colors, shiny black, dark gray. Avoid: Brown, tan, dull black, white, light gray.

White Hair - Pale Skin: Pastel tints, all shades and tints of low intensity red from flesh to maroon, soft blues or greens, creamy white, black. Avoid: Tan, brown, dead white, yellow green.

Complexion Variation:

Sallow skin - avoid bright blue and unrelieved black.
Sallow skin but coloring is cool - soft cool colors, blues and greens, creamy white accents near face.
Sallow skin but coloring is warm - soft warm colors, yellow orange to red.

Florid Complexion: can be subdued by dark values. Avoid complementary colors near face.
Color of complexion and cheeks can be EMPHASIZED BY ACCENTING OR CONTRASTING with color; also by cream white near the face.

To accent the color of eyes avoid a large expanse of a similar color near the face unless it is substantially subdued and darker or duller than the eye color - with contrast the eyes seem brighter. Exception: A small accent of bright or very intense color near the face of the same hue as the eyes will make the observer conscious of that color which will make the eye color seem brighter by reflection.

Use these colors as a guide and you will choose the right color for yourself or your client every time.

Fashion Image Tips: The Trick To Learning Good Habits

Posted by Tips Guides in Clothing

You can do what you want to do; your desire to do it is PROOF that you have within you the power to do it. Quote by, Wallace Wattles

To benefit from using the Law of Attraction that states: You attract more of what you focus on, try to focus your thoughts on the opposite of what you always do. Whether it is in your clothing selections, the way you dress, or the way you express yourself, you can learn to break yourself of bad habits and negative behaviors. So, make a habit to focus more on what you wish to happen. For example:

1. Replace anger and resentment with a positive, forgiving attitude. Not only will you feel better, in the long run, your health will thank you for it.

2. If you find yourself talking too much and not listening to the other person, focus on being silent for at least 20 seconds and make sure the other person completes voicing their thoughts before you speak yours.

3. In learning a new skill, focus on the outcome you wish to reach, and not on how difficult the learning process may be.

4. Focus on what you wish to happen (becoming slimmer, eating healthier foods, taking more interest in your appearance, walking more, and sitting less).

5. Make a point to focus less on any bad habits you have today.

6. Pay attention to your appearance. When you care less about the way you dress or look, your image (and perhaps your reputation) suffers.

7. Be grateful for what you have, rather than be upset for what you do not have.

8. SMILE! Not only will you feel more attractive, and look better, you make someone else feel better about their own image.

Selecting clothing that suits your personality is a good habit to form. Did you know that the clothing you select to wear expresses your personality? It only becomes an unfavorable habit when you choose styles that are forced on you by someone else, or when you select a style that is unsuitable for your unique personality.

Recognize whether your image and personality reveals an exotic type, an athletic type, or a romantic type. For example, habits of the exotic type is to choose styles that suggest a bold, joyful style of dressing. Your colors and fabrics may be in deep reds and oriental tones.

The athletic type usually prefers strong, unfussy clothes in natural tones and earthy colors. And for the sentimental, romantic type, your habit of dressing may include lots of feminine pieces, lots of lacy lingerie, and fragile high-heeled shoes.

Whatever makes up your clothing choices, use as many tricks of colors and styles to create your individual look. Make a point to look good every time you step foot outside your door. Make it a habit to recognize exactly what it is that best compliments your personality type. If you care enough about the way you dress, and what makes up your wardrobe, you will never go wrong.

In addition to the way you dress, keeping your hair looking its best is also important. When you allow enough time every day to keep it beautifully groomed, you add to your attractiveness. Good hair grooming is the easiest habit to develop. Also, pay attention to your diet and exercise. These are all important habits to develop.

Remember, to form good habits and achieve any degree of success, think of your mind and body as your garden. Whatever you plant in it, the same grows in your life. If you plant positive, hopeful thoughts, constantly feeding and nourishing them, your life will be positive, healthy, and confident.

Constantly create good habits. Then bad habits, like weeds, will not have a chance to grow. Plant thoughts of wellness and prosperity in your life, and you will always create new ways to reach those goals.

It is never too late to unlearn a bad habit and create a good one.

Express Your Individuality In Your Fashions

Posted by Tips Guides in Clothing

Building a wardrobe that expresses your own individuality takes a bit of magic. Your mission is to put together clothing you can wear with confidence, and with an attitude that makes each of your choices into your very own style. This includes everything from the tip of your hair to the tip of your heels.

Use every magic trick you know to create your own look. Stamp everything you own with your distinctive personality. Know what looks good on you. A well-rounded wardrobe does not mean that you have spent the most money, or by how many expensive garments you own. It means that you must take care of what you do own.

By caring, you must plan and shop carefully and sensibly. Then after buying your clothing, you must treat them with care when you are not wearing them, and with respect when you are. The magic comes in when you can improvise something that is old, and add to it, or change it into something new. This is an accomplishment that will give you pleasure every time you plan your wardrobe and create your look.

Whenever there is a major change in your life, your wardrobe may be greatly affected. A new job, relocation to another state or even another country, or a divorce has a dramatic influence on your life and the way to dress during those times. Learn to recognize what kind of shopper you are and whether there are any major challenges affecting your life.

Here are three main types of shoppers. Discover which one fits you and your personality.

A. Shopping when you need the item, but do not know what you want.

If you shop when you want to buy something special to wear to a big Saturday night concert, and your mind is blank, you tend to put yourself at the mercy of the salesclerk. Try this little exercise:

1. Is the item you want something that you will wear many times, or just for this special event?
2. Do you like dresses or an evening top with matching pants?
3. What is your spending budget? Are you interested in quality or in making a less expensive purchase?
4. Do you want to stand out from the crowd, or blend in?

Once these questions are clear, your sales person can steer you in the right direction and help you find something that interests you and your style.

B. A shopper who just likes to look.

If you like to browse and just look at clothing or merchandise alone, without any intention to purchase, you are a challenge for the attentive salesperson. If you show the slightest interest in a particular garment the salesperson may need to see whether you can be turned into a customer. New styles may be pointed out, or called to your attention. However, if you do not feel pressured or rushed, the opportunity to purchase something may happen. If the perfect outfit is brought to your attention you usually will not feel guilty about purchasing it.

3. Shopping when you know exactly what you want.

You go into a store and ask the salesperson to show you a black and white vertical stripe shirt style blouse with long cuffed sleeves in a size twelve. If it is not available, the salesperson may make another suggestion or show you something similar for another choice. Unless the salesperson reassures you that your specific wish was heard, your reaction may be negative. Acknowledge the fact that what you are shown is not what you had in mind, and change that negative into a positive. You may even find something you like much better and serves your purpose.

Whatever your shopping habits may be, try to shop when you are relaxed, with plenty of time, and go with a plan. After all, the salesclerks are there to help you and not hinder you from shopping. Their time and your time are equally as precious. Then, make your shopping adventure a pleasant journey.

Avoid Panty Lines And Wedgies - How To Choose Properly Fitting Panties

Posted by Tips Guides in Clothing

Panties are essential elements of your lingerie wardrobe. Like all articles in your collection, it is important that your panties reflect your personal style and look. A good fit is also important. How can you look and feel attractive in uncomfortable undergarments? Here are some tips to finding the perfect fitting panties every time you shop.

Selecting your perfect panties takes time. Don’t just check out the packaged drawers near the socks and expect to be satisfied and comfortable. Check out your options.

To begin, you must determine your size. Your pants or dress size will not necessarily indicate the size you need for panties. Experiment to determine what works best for you.

Improperly fitting under things will have you dealing with pinched privates, wandering wedgies, or floppy fabric. Avoid suffering through your day by purchasing properly fitting panties.

Get out your cloth tape measure to determine your appropriate size. This will help you to determine the proper size for a comfortable fit. Measure your waist by locating the natural bend or indent in your midsection. Having trouble? Gently bend to the side to determine the best place to put the tape measure. Do not suck in your belly and stand up straight and tall to get a smaller measurement. Although the smaller number may look more appealing, it will not allow you to find comfortable panties for your everyday posture and activities. Write down your measurement on a piece of paper. This number will help you find the properly fitting panties when you go shopping for lingerie.

Next, it is time to get a hip measurement for you. Similarly to the way you measured your waist, place the tape measure around the widest part of your hips. It is essential that your tape measure is level all the way around the body. Using a mirror will help you with this. Again, write down your results.

The waist and hip measurements will help you to determine your underwear size. Your waist measurements are important for underwear such as briefs or high-cuts that have elastic around the waist. Hip measurements are important for bikinis and thongs, for example.

If your waist measures 28 inches and your hip measurement is 37 inches, you would fall into a panty size of 6. Again, this is not a pant size. Panties marked small, medium, and large typically include a range of two or three sizes.

Beware of ill-fitting panties with uncomfortable seams or crotch. The crotch should fit close to your body. Choose panties with a cotton crotch for health reasons. Panties with horizontal crotch seems, you will want to make sure it is only visible from the front and won’t slip back.

Waistbands should not be too tight for comfort reasons. If they roll up or bunch, try a smaller size. The leg bands should not leave marks, yet feel snug and comfortable.

Properly fitting panties and lingerie will allow you to enjoy your day and feel your best. Panties that squeeze or bunch will leave you distracted from your duties and activities. Know your measurements and experiment with panties that will make you look and feel attractive.

Why A Quality Robe Should Be Considered An Essential Part Of Your Wardrobe

Posted by Tips Guides in Clothing

So many people do not consider a robe to be part of their wardrobe. When they think of a robe, they simply think of a cover up device that they use occasionally to zip from the shower to the bedroom in front of the kids. You know, that fuzzy blue thing that hangs on the back of the bathroom door? Your robe can very much become a part of your wardrobe. Here are some tips to finding the perfect robe to fit your needs.

Your robe can consist of a warm, fuzzy garment to snuggle up in after a relaxing bath. Such a robe should be made of absorbent material such as terry, cotton, or a synthetic-cotton blend. To find such a robe, you will need to shop at a large department store for best selection. This type of robe is primarily practical, so find a color or pattern that is soft and relaxing or wild and upbeat, depending on your personality. The choice is yours. Selecting a robe with a long tie at the waist is probably more convenient than a robe with numerous buttons for this situation.

Consider the desired length of the robe. Do you get cold easily? If so, you will want to buy a robe that hits below the knee near the floor. If you are merely looking to cover the essentials, a shorter length robe is an option for you.

Some robes should be much more attractive. You deserve a robe that makes you look and feel fantastic when you wear it.

If you are looking for a robe to cover up your pajamas or not, but want to appear modest yet stylish, select a robe made from materials that are slightly more elegant. Soft, silky robes that feel great on the skin are perfect for these situations. Again, consider the length of your robe for comfort and modesty. Choose a robe that is solid, not see-through. If you walk by the window on your way to the fridge, you want to know you are covered. The design can be fancy and frilly or sexy and sassy. Pick a style that makes you look and feel your best.

Another robe in your wardrobe is for bedroom eyes only. For those nights when your in the mood for love, pull out your most sensual, sexy robe ever. This sheer robe leaves nothing to the imagination. Cover your nighties and other naughty lingerie with this thin, sheer robe.

Your risque robe should compliment your other intimate lingerie. Think basic black or white to compliment just about anything. This robe may become one of your most favorite pieces in your wardrobe. Too bad so few will get the chance to see you in it.

Your robe isn’t just a cover up. Make your robe part of your wardrobe. Update your look with a robe that is cute and comfy or sexy and sassy. Cuddle up on those cool winter nights in your cotton robe for comfort. Whatever you choose, find a robe that suits your style and personality.

Buying Ballet Shoes For Children Can Be Difficult - These Tips Can Help

Posted by Tips Guides in Clothing

Has your child recently discovered an interest in ballet? This beautiful form of dance requires a specific type of shoe. It can be difficult to find the right ballet shoes for your child. These tips can make the job of purchasing the special footwear just a little bit easier.

If you have ever taken ballet, you may have a bit of knowledge and understanding to take with you. If you are just as new to ballet as your child, you may be lost and searching for a place to begin.

The first step to finding your child’s perfect ballet shoes will involve a chat with the dance class instructor. Find out what specific guidelines or requirements the dance teacher prefers. He or she may be able to provide you with helpful information. Some dance schools will allow you to order dance shoes through their contacts. This makes your job so much easier.

If you are not that lucky, ask for recommendations of reputable companies supplying dance supplies such as leotards and shoes. Since ballet shoes are not typically sold at local department stores or regular shoe stores, this will give you some direction.

As you make the trip to the specialty shop for your child’s footwear, plan to spend some time shopping. Bring your child with you on this trip to try on the ballet shoes to make it easier to find what you need. Have your child wear tights when trying on his or her ballet shoes. Socks will not allow your child a proper fit.

Ballet shoes are meant to be snug, but not uncomfortable. Give your child the opportunity to walk around and practice a dance step or two. Not only will practice make perfect, but this will allow you to determine if the shoes fit properly. A dance shoe that is too small will not provide comfort. If the shoe is too large, it may come flying off in the middle of a performance.

Some ballet shoes have a small elastic strap on them to help keep the shoe in place. For children, this feature is a must unless it goes against the dance school’s guidelines.

Consider quality and budget when purchasing dance footwear for your child. The most inexpensive shoes may be a good idea for the beginner. With children, interests change like the weather. There is no need to shell out cash if your child will not remain in the shoes long. Then again, if you are committed for a year or more, a higher quality pair of ballet shoes may be in order. You will pay more for durability, but over time, the dance footwear will be worth the investment.

Beginners do not need point shoes. Do not invest in such ballet shoes unless specifically advised by the dance instructor.

If your youngster is a budding ballerina, finding the right footwear can be quite a task. Try on shoes to ensure a good fit for your child. Budget and comfort are other factors to consider. With a little time in the shop, you will find the right ballet shoes for your child.
