Posted by Robertoms2003 in Jewelry

There has been a special craze for jewelry in every age irrespective of gender, religion, age, culture and fashion. No matter how much traditional or modern a person is, choice of jewelry makes him or her create his own fashion statement.

There is no doubt that jewelry has fascinated every women and it is something that women can associate themselves completely. Today, the fashion conscious folks have developed a sharp inclination towards body jewelry. And the fact cannot be ignored that men are equally going crazy with the jewelry fashion as the women are. Body jewelry in particular is drawing significant attention of the youngsters and exotic jewelry has the ability to make heads turn around.

Body jewelry is worn as a latest trend and is quite popular among the youngsters. However, its origin and use can be traced back in the ancient time. According to the Bible, body piercing jewelry was popular some 2000 years ago. Earlier, body jewelry was considered to be a symbol of class and standard and in some places, a symbol of religious practice.

There are various reasons associated with wearing body jewelry depending on religion, culture and castes. In medieval age the jewelry was used to boast the status of the person who wore it. Interestingly, before some decades, they represented a rebellious hip culture and the hip youth. Today, in the modern era, body jewelry is a way of enhancing beauty and hence, is a popular fashion. There are many types of jewelry having origin from the ancient rituals and are still popular.

Nose piercing jewelry:

Wearing nose ring can be recorded as the first type of body piercing jewelry. It is a prevailing trend of fashion and tradition in countries like India and Middle East. Till date, it is popular among the young folks. Whereas, many popular pop-stars have been found piercing their nostrils to wear nose rings.

Ear piercing Jewelry:

It is the most common form of jewelry and famous among people of every religion and it is popular amongst both men and women from day immemorial. Though ear rings are used for decorative as well as cultural reasons, today, they have been alienated from their symbolic root and are being treated as any other piece of decorative item.

Tongue piercing jewelry:

Wearing tongue piercing jewelry was a ritual among tribal people of some specific geographic region. However, today they are common among sophisticated young generation. Interestingly, there are some celebrities who are making tongue piercing jewelry as their fashion statement.

Eyebrow piercing jewelry:

Though this kind of jewelry is famous since long, today they adorn the fashionable youths making them boast their chic outlook.

Other piercing jewelry:

Popularly know as belly piercing jewelry, naval piercing jewelry is popular among women. As naval is one among the seductive part of the body, the jewelry is meant, specifically, to raise an erotic feeling. Nipple piercing jewelry is current trends of jewelry fashion though in ancient times it was being used for enhancement of sexual stimulation.

Apart from the body piercing jewelry, there is non-piercing jewelry available these days. The looks of any non-piercing jewelry is similar to that of any piercing jewelry but the difference is, a person does not need to make a hole on his or her body to wear it. Basically, the jewelry is designed to stick to the body with a clip or, sometimes, with a special kind of magnet. Most people can not bear the pain of piercing through their body. And, there are even cases of allergies and infection after getting pierced to wear jewelry. Hence, the non-piercing jewelry is a perfect alternative. After all, fashion is for everyone.

Some studies explore that piercing body parts is totally safe and convenient way to adorn body with jewelry. Some people take consent of a doctor before choosing some extra-ordinary fashion in piercing body. However, if you are getting it done from an experienced body piercing professional, you are in the safe zone. So, it is time you can zoom in to your kind of fashion with exiting jewelry.

Safely Laser Away Post-Pregnancy Pounds

Posted by Chiron99 in Beauty

Hollywood is experiencing a baby boom. From the Pitt-Jolie twins to 40-plus new moms like Halle Barry, celebrities and their children are the new hot commodity.

Like all things Hollywood, motherhood and the postpartum lifestyle is often glamorized. New moms have smiles on their faces and bodies back to their pre-pregnancy weight. Celebrity stomachs are toned, into a bikini and out on a Malibu beach in less than 8 weeks. New mothers strutting down the catwalk or strolling down the red carpet look as if they’d never even had a child.

These celebrity images can be discouraging to new moms who don’t have a nanny, personal trainer, housekeeper and private chef. Whipping a body into pre-pregnancy shape can be a challenge. And, even if someone does everything by the book, there are body parts that will never be as they were prior to having a baby.

For those who want their pre-baby body back, modern advances in aesthetic laser technology have responded helping to safely shape and contour the body, minimizing inches in problem areas such as the thighs, buttocks, stomach and hips. Now, with a combination of light, heat and radiofrequency waves, aesthetic laser clinics across the U.S. are helping new mothers reshape their bodies and their self-image.

Even with a healthy diet and exercise, some moms cannot minimize the effects of the baby belly. Moms claim the body part they are most concerned with is their flabby stomach, or as they call it, “jelly belly”. Noninvasive treatments like VelaShape - can literally take inches off the waist, buttocks, thighs, upper arms and more in as little as four treatments and with no surgery or downtime. The treatment combines heat, massage and suction to literally shrink the size of your fat cells, providing a decreased circumference of the treatment area. VelaShape is also very effective on the lumps and bumps we see on our backside, thighs and belly after baby - cellulite!

VelaShape is the first (and only) process approved by the FDA to temporarily reduce the appearance of cellulite and reduce thigh circumference. VelaShape is a clinically proven procedure that many Americans are choosing instead of surgical techniques. The noninvasive VelaShape device uses something called el’s technology, invented by laser developer Syneron. It employs bi-polar RF waves and infrared energy to improve skin texture, reduce the appearance of cellulite and cut down on localized fat deposits by literally shrinking your fat cells.

Improvements from VelaShape often are visible within as few as four office visits. It obtains results much more quickly than other techniques because it uses high-powered and safe forms of energy. Typically, with four to six treatments spaced one week apart, patients see thinner thighs and better skin texture. Some patients have even see results on other areas of the body including stomachs, love handles, hips and buttocks.

It’s easy for new moms to become overwhelmed trying so hard to be a
‘good parent” or “perfect mom” and physical appearance falls to the bottom of the to-do list. Maintaining health and style are extremely important, and a beautiful body after baby is an attainable goal. Confidence and self-esteem need to be modeled for children. It’s not always easy.

Post-partum hormones can also cause skin changes or the more frequent growth of unwanted hair. There are several ways to tackle and treat those baby battle scars, as well.

Laser hair removal offers permanent hair reduction and may be a time- and cost-saving alternative for both pre and post-wedding hairless bliss.

Essentially, laser hair removal works by destroying the hair follicle. The only way to permanently reduce the amount of unwanted hair is to damage the hair follicle to a point where is unable to produce hairs. The hairs that are destroyed with each treatment are destroyed permanently. While patient protocol is determined on a case-by-case basis, on average our centers recommend a minimum of six treatments, spread about two months apart per treatment.

In addition, skin rejuvenation treatments are also an option to fight skin irregularities while reducing fine wrinkles. This creates a more even skin tone and creates a more youthful, healthier appearance.

Even with so many different noninvasive options to get your pre-baby body back, you don’t have to be a celebrity to find a treatment that will work. These are aesthetic laser treatments will help to regain your pre-baby body and exude confidence again. These treatments can give moms the confidence and self-esteem to pass on for generations.

Skin Care For The Mature Skin

Posted by Chiron99 in Beauty

As we age, our skin needs change. To keep skin looking its very best, a woman’s skin care regimen should change to address the unique needs of each decade. Understanding the changes occurring beneath the skin can help women take the appropriate steps in skin care. While there are many high-end treatments available for women looking to achieve great looking skin in their 40s, 50s, 60s and beyond, there are also many practical steps that can be taken to maintain skin as well.

Women in their 40s (and sometimes as early as their mid-30s) may begin to notice some real changes occurring to their skin. With the advancement of age, gravity, genetics and sun damage, a woman may be more aware of the effects of aging than ever before. During this time, fine lines, age spots and the loss of elasticity are earmarks of the aging process. Premenopausal changes in the body are the prime culprits to skin changes. As skin’s collagen begins to break down and cells turn over more slowly, women in their 40s may notice their skin appears duller and drier. Fine lines begin to appear around the mouth and eyes. Issues such as rosacea, blotchiness and adult acne can also set it.

Skin care for women in their 40s should incorporate the use of soap-free cleansers, which will effectively cleanse the skin without stripping moisture. Bar soaps are not recommended for use for women in their 40s as it tends to dry skin out. Now is the time to invest in topical creams infused with glycolic acid, retinol and Vitamins A and E to target aging issues. Nutrients such as these can subtly improve skin’s condition and provide toning. Antioxidants are also useful as they are not only effective for preventive health, but they also correct cell damage, which leads to an improvement in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Exfoliation is essential for women in their 40s as it can increase skin cell turnover, revealing more radiant skin. It’s important not be overly aggressive in applying a physical exfoliant. However, alpha-hydroxy or beta-hydroxy cleansers and lotions are a beneficial way to introduce exfoliation into one’s regimen.

By the 50s, a woman’s skin is considered mature. The biological and hormonal changes occurring during this time may lead to unwanted hair growth or acne. As estrogen levels drop, the natural oil production of the skin decreases as oil glands reduce in size. Skin is more fragile, making it easier to injure and slower to heal.

Women in their 50s will notice a loss of elasticity of skin around the eyes, mouth and neck. As a result, skin is lackluster in appearance and wrinkles are deeper. During her 50s, a woman should again change her approach to skin care, as her skin will be more sensitive to aggressive anti-aging products. Instead, she should use a thick daily moisturizer, as well as a moisturizing night cream. Corrective, rich-emollient eye creams are also recommended. Vitamin C is an effective ingredient in the fight against aging. It penetrates beneath the epidermal layer, building and plumping up collagen. It is also good for clearing up adult acne.

Women in their 50s should also give some thought to the makeup they use. Swap out dense foundations and powders for lighter, mineral essential-based products.

In the sixth decade, the aging process is more pronounced. The effects of gravity on the eyelids, neck and jawline are more obvious. Any damage that has occurred by this time is unlikely to be corrected by skin care products. Women often seek the assistance of cosmetic enhancements to correct advanced facial wrinkles. Moisturizers should contain soy, retinol and alpha hydroxyl acids that are beneficial for a woman’s skin. Any treatments that encourage collagen and elastin stimulation are a good bet.

Makeup for a woman in her 60s should be used to enhance mature beauty - not hide it. A woman in her 60s should choose makeup with nourishing ingredients that contain Vitamin E, aloe and other emollients help the improve the texture and health of skin.

Liposuction Can Be The First Step Towards A Better Body

Posted by Foreignhaus in Beauty

Liposuction is a procedure performed to improve the appearance of your body contours. It can help sculpt the body by removing unwanted fat from specific areas, including the abdomen, hips, buttocks, thighs, knees, upper arms, chin, cheeks and neck. Although no type of liposuction is a substitute for dieting and exercise, liposuction can remove stubborn areas of fat that do not respond to traditional weight-loss methods.

There are technical variations to the basic liposuction techniques. Highly experienced and trained plastic and cosmetic surgeons can remove the fat, but it is not what is removed that matters - it is the shape that you leave the body in after the fat is gone that counts. Liposuction techniques, together with an excellent artistic vision make our plastic surgeons the right individuals to help you achieve the body contours you have always dreamed of.

There are numerous alternatives to traditional liposuction, such as Lipodissolve and LipoZap, but none have proven to be as effective as traditional liposuction. Read “Melt the Fat Away” for more on the differences.

The best candidates for liposuction are normal-weight people with firm, elastic skin who have pockets of excess fat in certain areas. You should be physically healthy, psychologically stable and realistic in your expectations. Your age is not a major consideration, but older patients may have diminished skin elasticity and may not achieve the same results as a younger patient with tighter skin.

We encourage you to arrange an appointment with our plastic surgeons as they can assess your needs as they consider variables such as your age, skin elasticity, expectations, and overall state of health, in order to assist you in making the decision that would be most appropriate for you.

During your initial consultation the plastic surgeon will evaluate your health, determine where your fat deposits lie and assess the condition of your skin. The plastic surgeon will explain the method that is most appropriate for you. For example, if you believe you want liposuction in the abdominal area, you may learn that an Abdominoplasty would more effectively meet your goals.

The plastic surgeon will give you specific instructions on how to prepare for plastic surgery, including guidelines on eating and drinking, smoking, and taking or avoiding vitamins, iron tablets and certain medications.

The time required to perform liposuction varies considerably depending on the size of the area, the amount of fat being removed, the type of anesthesia and the technique used.

The scars from liposuction are small and strategically placed to be hidden from view. Imperfections in the final appearance are uncommon, but the skin surface can initially be irregular, asymmetric or even “baggy,” especially in older patients. Numbness and minor pigmentation changes although extremely rare may also occur.

Improvement will become apparent after about six weeks, when most of the swelling has subsided. After surgery, you may experience some fluid drainage from the incisions. To control swelling and to help your skin better fit its new contours, you may be fitted with a snug elastic garment to wear over the treated area for a few weeks. The Doctor may also prescribe antibiotics to prevent infection.

You may experience some pain, burning, swelling, bleeding and temporary numbness after the surgery. Pain can be controlled with medications prescribed by your plastic surgeon, though you may still feel stiff and sore for a few days.

The plastic surgeon will recommend you start walking around as soon as possible to reduce swelling and to help prevent blood clots from forming in your legs. You will begin to feel better after a week or two and you should be back at work within a few days following your surgery. There may be a few stitches, which are usually removed or dissolve on their own within the first week to 10 days after surgery. Activity that is more strenuous should be avoided for about a month as your body continues to heal. Most of the bruising and swelling usually disappears within three weeks.

If your expectations are realistic, you will be very pleased with the results of your procedure. You may find that you are more comfortable in a wide variety of clothes and more at ease with your body. By eating a healthy diet and getting regular exercise, you will be able to maintain your new look for the rest of your life.

Breast Reduction Can Help Your Body Have Better Proportions And Increase Self Esteem

Posted by Foreignhaus in Beauty

For patients with excessive breast size, Breast Reduction Surgery can help relieve the physical symptoms caused by the size and weight of your breasts. Breast reduction surgery will change both the size and position of your breasts. After surgery, your breasts will be in better proportion to the rest of your body.

Who is a candidate for surgery?

If you experience one (or more) of the following complaints, you may be a good candidate for surgery:

1. Breast size out of proportion to your body
2. Pain due to your breast size, usually involving your back, neck, and/or your shoulders
3. Shoulder grooving from your brassiere straps
4. Skin irritation beneath your breasts
5. Restrictions in activity due to your breast size
6. Dissatisfaction and self-consciousness about your breast size
7. Pain from dense, fibrous breast (even if not extremely large breasted)
8. Breast size varies significantly from side to side

During your free consultation, your plastic surgeon will discuss your breast concerns, including any history of previous breast surgery. He will examine you, often taking measurements and photographs for your medical record. Since your weight can affect breast size, if you plan to lose a large amount of weight, be sure to discuss your plans with your surgeon.

In addition to concerns about your breasts, be prepared to discuss your medical history, both for medical treatments and any surgeries you may have had. Bring a list of your current medications. Any allergies, particularly to medications, can be important to your care.

Typically, incisions are made from your nipple down to your chest wall, and side to side under your breast. Excess breast tissue and skin is removed, with the remaining breast tissue moved to its new position, and the skin closed around your new breast mound.

Pregnancy, childbirth, and nursing can have unpredictable effects on your breasts. The decision to have surgery before or after you have children is a very personal decision. The ability to nurse after reduction surgery is unpredictable. If you nurse after surgery, you will likely experience areas of temporary engorgement. If children are a part of your future plans, be sure to discuss your concerns with your plastic surgeon.

Risks associated with breast surgery are the same as any other surgery. Common risks include bleeding, infection, scarring, change in sensation, and loss of tissue. Temporary changes in sensation are common. Changes that are present one year after surgery will be permanent. Although complications are uncommon, you should share any concerns with your surgeon.

Unless you have a job that requires heavy lifting, you can expect to return to work within 7-10 days of surgery. Return to “normal” activity requires 4-6 weeks. Complete healing requires up to one year after surgery. The appearance of your breasts will change with time. Three months or longer may be needed to achieve a more natural “look & feel” for you chest.

Does insurance cover the costs of surgery?

While most insurance companies provide coverage, many factors can influence your eligibility. A letter of predetermination is usually sent to your insurance company. Some companies require a photo as part of their determination process.

Eyelid And Ear Surgery Can Help Make You Look Animated And Youthful

Posted by Foreignhaus in Beauty

One of the first things people notice about you is your eyes. Puffy eyelids and droopy bags under your eyes can make you look much older than you really are. While eye-area problems can be related to lack of sleep, dehydration or other factors, many people have genetic eye issues that can be fixed with corrective cosmetic surgery.

Eyelid surgery (technically called blepharoplasty) is a procedure to remove fat–usually along with excess skin and muscle from the upper and lower eyelids. Eyelid surgery can correct drooping upper lids and puffy bags below your eyes - features that make you look older and more tired than you feel, and may even interfere with your vision. However, it won’t remove crow’s feet or other wrinkles, eliminate dark circles under your eyes, or lift sagging eyebrows. While it can add an upper eyelid crease to Asian eyes, it will not erase evidence of your ethnic or racial heritage. Blepharoplasty can be done alone, or in conjunction with other facial surgery procedures such as a facelift or browlift.

Before SurgeryLos Angeles Eyelid Surgery - After Surgery
Blepharoplasty can enhance your appearance and your self-confidence, but it won’t necessarily change your looks to match your ideal, or cause other people to treat you differently. Before you decide to have surgery, think carefully about your expectations and discuss them with your surgeon.

EAR SURGERY

Ear surgery, or otoplasty, is usually done to set prominent ears back closer to the head or to reduce the size of large ears.

For the most part, the operation is done on children between the ages of four and 14. Ears are almost fully grown by age four, and the earlier the surgery, the less teasing and ridicule the child will have to endure. Ear surgery on adults is also possible, and there are generally no additional risks associated with ear surgery on an older patient.

If you’re considering ear surgery for yourself or your child, this information will give you a basic understanding of the procedure-when it can help, how it’s performed, and what results you can expect. It can’t answer all of your questions, since a lot depends on your individual circumstances. Please be sure to ask your doctor if there is anything you don’t understand about the procedure.
Images provided by Amreican Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons.

When ear surgery is performed by a qualified, experienced surgeon, complications are infrequent and usually minor. Nevertheless, as with any operation, there are risks associated with surgery and specific complications associated with this procedure.

A small percentage of patients may develop a blood clot on the ear. It may dissolve naturally or can be drawn out with a needle.

Occasionally, patients develop an infection in the cartilage, which can cause scar tissue to form. Such infections are usually treated with antibiotics; rarely, surgery may be required to drain the infected area.

Most surgeons recommend that parents stay alert to their child’s feelings about protruding ears; don’t insist on the surgery until your child wants the change. Children who feel uncomfortable about their ears and want the surgery are generally more cooperative during the process and happier with the outcome.

In the initial meeting, your surgeon will evaluate your child’s condition, or yours if you are considering surgery for yourself, and recommend the most effective technique. He or she will also give you specific instructions on how to prepare for surgery.
