Big and bold are the hot trends this summer, ladies! Whether you’re headed out shopping or going to the office, include something big and bold: Jewelry, handbags and belts are the easy way to go here. Some of you may be uncomfortable sporting a large accessory, but chances are you’ve already made the transition with your sunglasses since those got bigger last year. Remember, whatever you chose to super-size, carry yourself with confidence and you’ll always look great!

Gearing up to go out shopping with the girls? Channel your inner flirt and pull on a flowing white skirt. These are everywhere this season! And they’re great with flat sandals, a chunky beaded necklace in turquoise and natural hues and a tight fitting t-shirt. Showing off your curves is a sign of confidence and can make you feel incredibly sexy.

Having a lunch date? Sling on a denim jacket and grab your Hobo purse — you’ll fit right in with the divas dining in the sun. What about a dinner date with that hot new guy? Sexy chandelier earrings in a vintage setting and red Lucite is a subtle but sassy way to bring attention to your face. Every time you laugh, not only will your face light up but your earrings will move. Pin your hair up loosely and have the time of your life!

Dressing boldly out on the town is one thing, but how do you do it at the office? Depending on your work environment, your best bet is to let your personality shine through your jewelry or your shoes. Shoes are a great outlet for showing off your flair for the fashionable; the right pair can bring new life to those “all business” suit pants. If you opt to work in some jewelry at the office, choose one large piece to be the center of attention; overdoing it is never a good thing.

This year in jewelry, if it’s not big and chunky, it’s all gold. I’m sure you’re seeing it everywhere you go; gold belts, rings, bracelets, even gold headbands. This was a hot look back in the 80’s, and as they say, everything old is new again. If you can pull it off, go for it. If you can rock a gold chain and wear it like you mean it, do. Rhinestone encrusted belts and iPod cases are a big hit this year; let’s be honest, we all want a little “bling” in our life.

Simply said, we can all channel our inner Carrie, circa Sex and the City, we just need to be confident. She always looked great no matter what she did. The real way to be fashionable this season, or any other season, is to wear what works for you. Style and fashion are becoming less about what you’re wearing and more about who you are and what your style says about your personality. For women, we should consider this a feat and embrace it happily. How great is it to run to get a latte and be able to walk through the door, not worried about if our make-up is just right?
