Feel Stressed Out? Try A Spa Visit

Post by Tips Guides in Beauty

If you are like most people, you are probably stressed out now. Be it work, family, money, parenting or relationships, stress is becoming a big part of our daily lives. No wonder more and more people (especially women) are interesting in getting away and unwinding in a relaxing spa. If you have not tried it before, it may be time to think about it now.

Why go to a spa? Because it is a good way to unwind and relax and get rid of stress. If you don’t have a proper way to unwind that stress within you, the negative results could be serious. A spa is one way of relaxing but of course it is not the only way. It just happens to be a good way that you might want to consider.

But there are certain things you need to know about spas before you go to one. For example, spas come in different formats :

1. specialized spas that are focused on beauty, like the ones that offer hair care services, nails, and tanning.

2. full service spas that not only offer nail care and hair care, but also body massages, body wraps, acupuncture, and many other services available for you to choose from. A full service spa is a better option and highly recommended.

Next thing you need to know is about making an appointment with your spa. You can make your appointment alone or with a group of friends if you want to. Going with a group of friends can be a fun and exciting, yet relaxing adventure. But if you would like to go alone, this is not bad idea too. Some women like to be alone so that they can literally forget all about their daily stress. If you are one of them, then going it alone may be a better idea.

Besides helping you unwind from stress, a spa visit may also help improve your appearance too. Many women go to spas to get their hair or their nails done at the same time. This all-in-one service may also include plastic surgery but you must be aware of the risks here since some of these practitioners are not licensed to perform such surgeries.

Another factor to consider is the cost of a spa visit. There are some spas where you can to pay for each service that you would like use. There are also others who will allow you to simply buy a day pass. You may also want to research each local spa that you have access to online. Make sure that you look at pictures because you want to visit a spa that has a comfortable and inviting atmosphere.

To recap, a spa visit is a great stress reliever. It may not necessarily solve your problems but it can be a life saver because stress is a big killer. Diseases associated with stress are getting more and more serious these days. Once you are more relaxed, you become more calm and your thinking will get clearer too. That’s how you can think of solutions to solve all your problems too.

Diamonds And The Computer Industry

Post by Tips Guides in Jewelry

The first wave of gem-quality manufactured diamonds hit the market late in 2003. Man-made diamonds is nothing new and the technology has been available since the mid 19th century. Small diamond crystals were created for industrial purposes such as grinding wheels, drill bits and saw blades. What is new is that a Florida based company can now produce rough 3-carat gem-quality diamonds 24 hours a day, seven days a week, at a cost of less than $100 dollars.

Companies like the Gemesis, Apollo Diamond and others are producing quality diamonds and yet the price of the man-made or cultured diamonds are only about 15 percent less than mined diamonds. Gemesis and Apollo Diamond companies are using diamond jewelry business to finance their entry into the semiconductor industry, which is where the real money is.

As computer chips get faster and smaller they run hotter and hotter. Microprocessor chips can generate up to 200 degrees Fahrenheit. If they get much hotter the silicon will simply turn into a puddle. Diamonds can solve this problem because they can stand much higher temperatures than silicon.

Several things must happen before diamonds are going to be used as semiconductors. The first is the cost must come down. With Gemesis reporting in 2003 that the cost of producing a 3-carat diamond was about $100 and Apollo Diamond Company reporting cost of about $5 per carat the first obstacle appears to have been overcome.

A large volume of cheap diamonds is needed. You cannot rely on a steady supply mined diamonds. Since De Beers Diamond Trading Company has monopolized the diamond business for over 115 years by forcing out rivals and by controlling the supply of available diamonds the ability to manufacture diamonds is the answer.

Each diamond must have the same electrical properties and the next. Diamonds are naturally insulators (they do not conduct electricity) and to become semiconductors for the computer industry they must be able to conduct both a negative and positive charge. Scientists have found that if boron in included during the lattice formation of a diamond it will be able to conduct a positive charge. Recently both Israel and France has announced a major breakthrough in manufacturing a negatively charged diamond. Boron is a substance that will also give a diamond a bluish coloration.

Intel uses large silicone wafers that are 1 foot in diameter (slightly over 300 millimeters) for their semiconductor manufacturing process. As of 2003 the Apollo Diamond company has been successful in creating 10 mm square diamond wafers and predicts it will be able to produce 4 inch wafers within five years. Europe and Japan have been investing heavily in diamond semiconductor research. The Japanese government has allocated over $6 million dollars a year to build the first-generation diamond computer chip. If we are not careful the Japanese will become the leaders in the new diamond computer chip industry.

Converting from a silicon based semiconductor to a diamond based semiconductor will not happen over night. Krishnamurthy Soumyanath, Intel’s director of communications circuit research said that it takes us about 10 years of to evaluate a new material. But when it does happen it will be huge and I am ready for mine now. Now if we can only get Microsoft to quit introducing a new operating system every other year or so then perhaps “Diamonds Are Forever” would be true for the business world also.

Save Your Eyes - Don’t Buy Cheap Contact Lenses - Nurse’s Guide

Post by Tips Guides in Beauty

Be careful about buying cheap contact lenses. They may not be the quality you want. Discount, quality contact lenses are the most desirable. In the U.S. contact lens marketplace, 82 percent of contact lens wearers wear soft lenses, 16 percent wear rigid gas-permeable, and only 2 percent wear hard lenses. The choice of which lens is right for you should be based only on an examination by your doctor or eye care professional, not over the phone

Before you buy contact lenses from anyone other than your eye care professional, it pays to be a wise, informed consumer first. Ophthalmologists are eye surgeons who study and treat eye diseases and can also perform the same duties as optometrists. Optometrists examine eyes, diagnose and treat vision problems, prescribe eyeglasses and contact lenses and in most states they can also prescribe medicine. Opticians grind and dispense eyeglasses and in some states also can dispense contact lenses.

Disposable lenses don’t come with instructions for cleaning and disinfecting, while those labeled specifically for planned replacement do come with them. It’s important for your eyes to have a good rest, without the lenses, for at least one night following each scheduled removal. There are two general categories of contact lenses - soft and rigid gas permeable. The soft lenses are easier to adjust and are much more comfortable than rigid lenses because they conform to the eye and absorb and hold water.

The expiration date for your lens prescription is currently set by your state requiring a one-year or two-year renewal. If your state has not set a minimum expiration date, government regulations set a one-year date unless your eye doctor determines there’s a medical reason for less than a year.

If you live a very active lifestyle, the night and day type of breathable lenses will allow 30 hours of continuous wear. Soft lenses also come as disposable products meaning used once and discarded, or as planned-replacement lenses. Rigid gas permeable contact lenses are more durable, are resistant to deposit buildup, and generally give a clearer, crisper vision. Some eye doctors prescribe disposables as planned-replacement lenses, which are removed, disinfected, and reused before being discarded.

The length of continuous lens wear depends on the contact lens type and your doctor’s evaluation of your tolerance for overnight wear. Extended wear lenses are usually soft contact lenses and are made of flexible plastics that allow oxygen to pass through to the cornea.

If you have an insurance plan, the insurance plan’s seller’s prices may or may not be better than what you can find elsewhere. This should be just one option when you’re shopping for contact lenses. Always ask what rebates might be available. Before you buy online, check to see if there are any testimonials on the online supplier’s website.

Focus on the value, not just the price. Most people, who are looking for the best price, are really looking for the best value. Get a feel for how the retailer handles customer service calls in the event you have any problems after your order arrives. And check out how long the online supplier has been in business before you buy.

When you receive your order, if you think you’ve received an incorrect contact lens, see your doctor or eye care professional right away. Don’t accept any substitution unless your doctor or eye care professional approves it. You can buy contact lenses from an eye doctor, on the Internet, from an optical store or a warehouse club. When you place your order make sure your lenses are available and not out of stock, because you’ll no doubt need them right away.

One sight-threatening concern is the infection Acanthamoeba keratitis, which is caused by improper care of the lens. This hard-to-treat parasitic infection’s symptoms are similar to those of corneal ulcers. Make sure to replace your contacts as recommended by your eye doctor because they will wear out as time goes by. Be aware that extended-wear contact lenses - rigid or soft - increase the risk of corneal ulcers, which are infection-caused eruptions on the cornea that can lead to blindness. The symptoms include vision changes, eye redness, eye discomfort or pain, and excessive tearing.

Note that getting a proper fit is essential. Contact lenses that are poorly fitted can lead to eyesores, eye inflammation, and eye abrasions. A basic rule: never swap your contact lenses with anyone else. Soft extended-wear lenses will bind down on the closed eye, but they are porous and allow some tears through during sleep. Because they have so little form, their binding has very little effect on the shape of the eye.

And shopping for contacts online will save you a lot of money. Contact lenses are deeply discounted. If you’re looking for cheap contact lenses, you might find that cheap materials or other ways of cutting costs will affect the quality you want for your precious eyes. LASIK or laser surgery and its risks can be frightening and much too expensive for some people. Contacts provide a safe, comfortable and time-tested alternative.
