How To Keep Your Feet Feeling And Looking Great

Post by Tips Guides in Fashion

Your feet take a lot of punishment every day. If you are a woman, you might wear three inch torture devices known as shoes or wear boots that rub blisters on your heels - all in the name of fashion or so-called beauty. Or you might try and stuff your feet into shoes that are too small for you. Going barefoot has its own drawbacks - you might step on stickers or splinters. You would definitely sub your toes and develop calluses on your heels. Taking care of your feet is a must, especially since they have to support you for the rest of your life! Luckily, there are numerous beauty tips just for feet.

Avoid getting rough - Rough feet can be terribly unattractive. Keep a pumice stone handy in your bathroom. After a bath or shower, you can dry off then use the pumice stone to gently buff off some of the thick calluses on your heels and even around some of your toes. Once you have buffed off a few layers of dead skin, gently rinse your feet and dry them. Apply petroleum jelly or a moisturizing lotion to your feet and promptly put on socks or protective booties. With your freshly clean and buffed feet, the lotion will soak into your skin better. To promote softer skin and hydrate your feet at the same time, make sure that you sleep with your feet lathered in lotion covered with socks over night. You will not believe how soft your heels and skin feel on your feet!

Relax and rejuvenate - There is nothing more relaxing than a foot massage. Let’s face it - your feet are one of the most overworked parts of your body. They hold up your body weight and when you walk or run, that is added abuse to your feet. A massage using essential oils or even a cooling mint lotion can perk up even the most tired of feet.

Soaking your feet is also beneficial. It loosens the muscles and you can soak out your aches and pains. Plus, by soaking your feet, you are softening your skin in preparation for a pedicure and even the use of a pumice stone as mentioned above. A great home pampering product for your feet is a foot bath that has little jets that pulse water and provide your feet with a heated water massage. Adding a little Epsom salt to the water promotes a relaxing experience which improves the circulation in your feet and eases aches and pains.

Pedicures - Because we tend not to look at our feet so much, the cuticles can grow way past the natural nail line. Take advantage of the pliable skin you have after a foot bath or shower. The cuticles around your toenails would be soft at that time and can be trimmed or pushed back easily with the cuticle stick. Since your toenails are usually thicker than fingernails, a foot bath or shower softens them up which is great situation for easier trimming and shaping. With toenails, you have to be careful how you trim them so as not to create a situation for a future ingrown nail. In addition, you want to use an emery board to gently file your toenails. This will ensure that there are no snags on panty hose or socks. Just remember - file in one direction instead of using a sawing motion.

There are several no-nonsense tips that can guide you to better looking feet. For instance, you may love wearing high heels. However, walking in them for any length of time can cause pain in the arch of your foot as well as cut into the circulation and cause pain. Make a compromise. Wear sensible shoes during your commute and change into your snazzy heels right before your event. If you are able to, do little foot and toe exercises to promote circulation, especially if you work in an office where getting out and taking a walk is not always feasible. Doing little toe crunches is great to release some stress in your feet and eases some pain.

After a few feet pampering sessions, you will notice a change. So if you are in a profession where you are on your feet all day like teachers, wait staff or construction workers just to name a few, some of the tips above can be very beneficial to you. Just remember that you are not doing yourself any favors by not taking care of your feet. They are your main support system!

How To Enhance The Beauty You Already Have

Post by Tips Guides in Beauty

With plastic surgery becoming more and more popular, it is evident that many women are seeking to recreate their features into an image of something else. Rather than looking for their own beauty and enhancing it, they are looking for a quick fix to enhance their beauty by changing what they have naturally. Luckily, it is just as easy, and much less painful, to enhance the beauty you already have. Everyone has a degree of natural beauty, and this is important to remember as you think about enhancing features that you already possess, rather than creating features that you never really had.

The eyes are generally considered the most beautiful part of the body. They are seen as “windows to the soul,” and few people decline to comment on a pair of striking eyes. Luckily, the eyes are also the easiest features to enhance. It can be done simply or elaborately, but however you do it, the eyes can be made to “pop” and catch attention, drawing others’ gazes from less attractive areas of the body to the eyes.

One way to enhance the eyes is to enhance the eye lashes. Many people simply wear mascara to accomplish this. However, mascara can be messy and annoying. Additionally, it can also spread infection and disease to the eyes. Eyelash extensions can be a desirable alternative to wearing mascara to lengthen and thicken the lashes. Lash extensions are small, individual pieces of synthetic material that are made to look like real lashes. They are as light as real lashes, and they attach directly to the top of the lash, rather than the skin of the eyelid (like false eyelashes). This can enhance the natural beauty of the eyes in a very natural way.

Another way to enhance the eyes is by using eye shadow. It does not follow that the shadow has to be dark and imposing, leaving other people no choice but to notice the eyes. Rather, light eye shadow often looks more attractive and helps the eye look more open and lighter. Eye shadow with a shimmer has become especially popular as it adds a pleasing sheen that attracts attention to the eye without immediately repulsing the attention. Additionally, flesh colored, non-shimmering eye shadow can be used below the eyes to reduce the appearance of dark circles.

Enhancing the lips is another hot topic when it comes to flaunting your good looks. A moist pair of lips (not slimy and wet, mind you) are a pleasure to behold and to listen to. When you wear lipstick, make sure that it is a moisturizing lipstick that also contains sunscreen. The lips do not have the melatonin that is present in the skin to offer protection. Therefore, lips too exposed to the sun easily dry and crack. But one need not wear lipstick to enhance the lips. Even a faint lip gloss can draw attention and give the lips a more naturally beautiful look. Lip liner is a very valuable tool in helping enhance the look of the lips by making them appear thicker and fuller.

Just a touch of light rouge on the cheeks can help draw the eye up the face, resulting in a face that does not look quite so chubby. The key is to not overdo the blush, just adding color so that there is the look of a healthy glow. By carefully following the cheekbone almost to the edge of the hairline, it is possible to accent the cheeks while drawing attention away from a little extra fat that might be present in the face. Pinching the cheeks can also help, and it looks more natural, but this can fade away and be painful and annoying to boot.

Finally, it is possible to enhance one’s natural beauty by careful use of skin care products. There are many creams designed to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and other fine lines, as well as to moisturize and exfoliate. Exfoliation adds a glow to the face, as dead skin cells are sloughed away to reveal young and healthy cells beneath. These skin care products can smooth the surface of the face and allow for a healthier glow.

Saint Patrick’s Day Jewelry: They’re Gorgeous — And That’s No Blarney!

Post by Tips Guides in Jewelry

March 17 is a very special day in the year everywhere there is an Irish population. It’s not only the National Day of Ireland, but it’s also the feast day of Patrick, Ireland’s national saint. In Ireland itself, as well as in hundreds of cities in the United States, Saint Patrick’s Day is celebrated with much fanfare. Pubs serve green beer, people wear green clothing, and everywhere you can see jewelry and other items patterned after symbols and figures reminiscent of Irish culture and customs.

Irish-themed jewelry is unquestionably appropriate to wear during Saint Patrick’s Day. Jewelers carry all sorts of items shaped like shamrocks, Celtic crosses, leprechauns, and images of the saint himself. Saint Patrick is credited with bringing Christianity to Ireland and, as legend has it, he drove all the snakes away — so now there is no snake to be found in all of Ireland. Gold pendants and medals bearing the image of the saint are very popular among the Irish and those of Irish descent who are living in other countries.

The versatility of gold lends itself well to jewelry design. Items can be made of purely gold or use gold as a backdrop to more eye-catching gems such as diamonds and emeralds. Actor Colin Farrell, himself a son of Ireland, is known for his trademark gold jewelry. He has even dabbled in jewelry design himself, creating a pendant to help raise funds for charity at the 2005 Respect Ball.

Emeralds are particularly popular stones in Saint Patrick’s Day jewelry. The color is reminiscent of Ireland, which is also known as the Emerald Isle. Perhaps this is why many couples who get married during the time near Saint Patrick’s Day like having their wedding rings inlaid with diamonds and emeralds — especially those with Irish blood running in their veins.

Claddagh jewelry comes in many variations and forms. Claddagh refers to a place near Galway Bay in Ireland, which was romanticized by many 19th century writers. Claddagh rings, earrings, bracelets, and other pieces of jewelry usually feature a crown. The Claddagh ring or friendship ring has a tradition associated with it. If you wear it on a finger on your left hand, you’re saying that your heart already belongs to someone else. But if you’re wearing it on your right hand, it means you’re on the lookout for love.
Of course, there are pieces of jewelry that are specific to men and women. Wearing a pair of shamrock gold or diamond cufflinks is a nice and discreet way to celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day at a formal dinner. Women can wear charming claddagh bangles or anklets during the special day. Many jewelers also offer bracelets for children, which are adorned with shamrock and leprechaun charms.

There’s a saying that everyone’s Irish on Saint Patrick’s Day. Maybe by wearing Irish-themed jewelry during the day, you can even have some of the luck o’ the Irish rub off on you!
